My thoughts - I grew up with the sounds of Onyeka Onwenu. She was on my tv, my cassette and she was an icon that I looked up to. With songs like Ekwe, Hallelujah, Iyogogo, Wait for me - Onyeka Onwenu went out to become more than a house hold name in Nigeria but also beyond Nigeria. I remember showing my only CD with songs from Onyeka Onwenu to someone from a different region of Africa and he knew songs from that CD. He mentioned that Onyeka Onwenu's videos were shown on his tv when he was growing up in his country. She is great. When I listen to music from that time - it has a nostalgic effect. It reminds me of a time of innocence when we all believed in the potential of the country.
