Thank God It Is Friday

Every Friday, we reintroduce African Artists from Africa as well as the Diasporas who are creating an impact outside their region of Africa. These are music legends.
Zimbabwe,Africa and the African Diaspora suffered a great loss at the passing away of Prince Tendai Mupfurutsa. In many circles, he was known as a businessman, philanthropist and musician. He was also recognized as one of the pioneers of Urban grooves music (Urban contemporary music) . In musical circles, he was one of those musicians who was always discovering new talents and ensuring these new talents gets known. He also did a lot to ensure that Zimbabwean music is recognized internationally.
It was with great sadness that I learnt of the loss of this Zimbabwean Legend. My introduction to Prince Tendai was via the song - character and the song chipo baby. There was just something about that song, character that grabbed my attention. Maybe it was the message which is basically , "be true to who you are ". Beautiful message.
Per Webster Shamu, who is the minister of media, information and publicity in Zimbabwe, ""Artistes like Mupfurutsa are, therefore, a priceless treasure to our country as they are not only warriors in the cultural preservation crusade, but they also play big roles as entertainers, social analysts and commentators,"
Prince Tendai will be laid to rest at the Mupfurutsa homestead in Magunje, Hurungwe on Saturday -12/31/11. http://www.newzimbabwe.com/SHOWBIZ-6809-Urban+star+Prince+Tendai+dies/SHOWBIZ.aspx
