Thank God It Is Friday
Every Friday, we reintroduce African Artists from Africa as well as the Diasporas who are creating an impact outside their region of Africa. These are music legends.
Waking up to the smooth sounds of , Sade Adu's "smooth operator" seems to be fortitious of who should be featured on our TGIF post this Friday. Who is Sade Adu?
Sade Adu is a Nigerian British Musician who was born in Nigeria but spent most of her growing years in the United Kingdom and still resides in the United Kingdom. She was discovered while in college when she performed the song ,'smooth operator' with a soul band called , Pride. She was immediately signed to Epic records and has never looked back since then. She is the most succesful solo female artist in British history having sold over 110 million albums world wide.

Interestingly, Sade Adu's break into stardom wasn't an easy one. Sade sang differently from many of the female musicians of the time. There were many times, that bands that she had tried to join wanted her to sing just like everyone else but she couldn't. It is hard to say if she couldn't because she could not physically do it or if she wanted to be true to her own style and voice but whatever reason - she won. She is known distinctly for her voice which reminds one of sipping a nice coffee in a nice cafe in Paris.
