Teen Sex
More teenagers are having unprotected sex and they know less about contraception, an international study claims.
The number of young people having unsafe sex with a new partner increased by nearly a fifth in Britain and more than doubled in France, the research for World Contraception Day revealed.
It also found that only half of the teenagers surveyed in Europe received any sex education in school, compared to three-quarters in South America, Asia Pacific and the U.S.
Yet in the U.S., more than half of the respondents were having unsafe sex with new partners, and the figure had increased by more than a third.
WCD's Denise Keller said in a statement today: 'No matter where you are in the world, barriers exist which prevent teenagers from receiving trustworthy information about sex and contraception, which is probably why myths and misconceptions remain so widespread even today.'"
Since, Angie was available (Yipee, no biology for a couple of hours), I thought it best to bring her to my show - Soul talk to discuss this topic. Yes, we talked about teenagers and sex. What their thoughts are on sex? How should they be approached? Is there a difference between Teens in Africa and Teens in the Diaspora? etc
** Remember to tune into visionsfm.com tonight as Soulfege is interviewed....:) We've talked about them so much on this site...done a review of their recent cd...and at 6.30pm EST it will be on. Check out the visionsfm site for numbers to call in on.
