Happy Independence Day

About 51 years ago, the country known as Nigeria was given its independence and we were now allowed to rule ourselves. Nigeria, a country made up of many peoples, languages, tribes and ethnicity's. The question on every one's lips at its inception was if we will be able to rule and actually be competitive on the global scale. That has remained the question till today.
Nigeria has gone through a lot since our independence. We've had a civil war, several military governments, unsteady economy but yet, we still manage to have so many people out of Nigeria who are creating an impact within several industries in Nigeria as well as the Diaspora. There are very few good lists out there that do not have a Nigerian on it. We've impacted the world of technology, medicine, movies, books, business, music and the list goes on. We are known as being a very talented, intelligent and enlightened group.
I am proudly Nigerian even though I tend to have a world view on issues pertaining to the country. As we turn 51, I wish us many prosperous and beautiful years ahead.
Today, on my show Soul Talk, we will be bringing in the Nigerian factor - we will be discussing the rape that occurred in Abia State, we will have a male friend that has been with me on this project since its inception (my partner in crime and naughtiness), an internationally acclaimed author, an internationally respected physician, and also an internationally respected woman who is also a Dr. and who will be looking at the Rape from a womanist as well as psychological stand point. Yes, we will be pretty serious about this one. Please join us on www.visionsfm.com at 6.30 pm EST tonight.
Against my better judgement I have been advised by the law heads that there is a need to put a disclaimer on here....so here goes -
*The core skills used on this site from its inception(Administration, Coordination, Research, Interviews, Reaching out, Follow up , Payment and most of the writing on this site) are done by Pamela Stitch (me). The editing (done by a person based in the states who prefers to remain anonymous) is the only part of this site that I hand out to someone else.
Bloggers (Linda Diokpa - who is no longer affiliated with this site but we still remain friends), K.M, 'Ugochi', Angela, 'him and her', 'Obi Eze' and others who contribute or have contributed to this site in the past and in the present have never been monetarily compensated for their works. I solely believe that blogging is done out of passion and a need to share your own point of view or story. That's the reason I don't get involved in anywhere else they choose to share their story, I often wish them the best, if I am informed ahead of time.
Just for clarity: I won't be compensating monetarily(is this English?) to bloggers or blogging in the near future. There might be times, I might break this rule either because your blogging has brought something extra or because you've gone beyond sharing your blogs on this site. All works submitted to this site get credited to the owner and shared on different portals and that's the most I will do.
I have often looked at this media portal as an extra place to share your point of view or your story and I will continue looking at things from that perspective. This site was my idea (that started many years ago when I was working on a different radio station) that became an action that I followed up by faith. I feel blessed and lucky that many have written and submitted their works here and the many that have opened their doors to this site.
God Bless,
Pammy
