Let’s talk about you, I know that you are working on something new in the studio. What took you into the world of music?

I do it for the love. To impart life and to send a message across to everyone. Music is a universal language. I have been through a lot of things in life. I want to tell a story through music of what I have been through in life. This message is a message of hope and believing that whatever you have as a plan, you can acheive it.

When you said that you were going to follow this career path and pursue music - how did your family take it?

No one supported me. One by one as I took the step in faith, people came out to support me but not fully. I have been doing most of this by myself.

How long have you been doing this?

Professionally, I started 2003 that's when I got my first demo.

How has the response been to your music in Nigeria?

Basically, I have been getting some great responses online and offline. My songs are loved because it gives hope and courage. In my community, I have been able to make some impact. My songs are currently on radio and the response has been great.

What genre of music are you in?

I sing a fusion of Afro, pop, soul and folk music.

You know for many people they say that these genre of music is for the older folks - what is it about soul music that got your attention?

Growing up, I listened to different genres of music and these has helped to inform me. I like the deeper things of life. My experiences have made me go much more deeper to find out more about life. It has helped me interprete the deeper things of life when it comes to music.

What are the challenges that you’ve faced? We both know that Nigeria is a very competitive market, particularly when it comes to music?

Nigeria is competitive. Everything in life, you have to see it through the eyes of competition but going beyond that, the originality I preach in my music is the first thing that every other person wants to recognize and want to associate with. If you do not have a special message, you will fall into the cartegory of the competitive market. I am putting my mother tongue and fusing everything together. My voice is unique and all that -so I want to do something different but I do not have to break out of that light. What has helped me stand out is singing my real self. People love it when you are yourself.

Many of the older generation are complaining that many are loosing touch with their roots and they are singing and sounding like Europeans and Americans, and that many aren’t showcasing their own culture. What’s your response to this?

As long as I am going to stick to my flow, not to let the flow, market, environment or the situation of life and those things affect me. It will keep me in line. Why those people are loosing focus is because of the market generally. When you are preaching yourself, the way it should be done, people wants to see your soul. You don’t have to be ashamed of where you are coming from. With time, if someone can stick with their flow, instead of bringing their old into the present.

Nigeria has been in the media because of a lot of bad things. What is so special about being Nigerian?

The first thing is God is lovely and he didn’t make any mistake to make me a Nigerian and I must accept that. When you know yourself, there will never be any need to be afraid of anything. I love being a Nigerian because I was born in Nigeria. When you have that counscious in you, you will funciton well, in every sphere of life. One good thing about Nigerians is that we have this dynamics of culture and we are a lovely set of people. We are warm and we want to explore and we want to develop ourselves. Many youths here do so many things with their talents. Nigerian people are so blessed with gifts and talents. We are set of people that don’t give up when it comes to the challenges of lives. We take risks. We know precisely what we want.
